Pedestrian hit by vehicle, pronounced dead at the scene. The accident happened at 11:00pm Wednesday night. The victim was found in cardiac arrest, covered in blood on side of the road in the area of D 1/2 Rd & San Juan St near 29 1/2 Rd. A witness or driver on scene started CPR, which was taken over by a sheriff deputy shortly after. Medical crews arrived quickly but were unable to save the victim. Driver of the hit vehicle stayed on scene and is speaking with law enforcement.

First responders are on scene for a fatal vehicle vs pedestrian crash. All lanes of D 1/2 Road at San Juan Street will be closed for several hours as GJPD investigates this crash. The Mesa County Coroner’s Office will be responsible for releasing the identity of the deceased after appropriate notifications have been made. Please find a different route of travel if in the area.
