From the Lower Valley Grand Junction Fire Department:
At 7:45 AM this morning, the Grand Junction Fire Department and Lower Valley Fire District were dispatched to a fire in a two-story residence on the 800 block of 22 Road. The resident reporting the fire indicated that the fire was in a downstairs bedroom and that all occupants were able to evacuate safely. The resident observed heat coming from the bedroom door and prevented the fire from spreading in the home by keeping it closed after calling 9-1-1.
Arriving crews reported smoke in the home and were able to access the bedroom extinguish the fire and verify that it had not spread to other rooms in the home. There are no known injuries. The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation.
This residential home is in an automatic aid area that extends one mile to the east and one mile to the west of where the GJFD and Lower Valley response area meet. Both departments are dispatched to emergencies in this area to ensure a rapid and appropriate response.
