From the Grand Junction Police Department:
First responders from the Grand Junction Police Department and Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of North Avenue and I70B on 06/25/24 at approximately 2:30 a.m. The vehicle had struck a light pole at the intersection, and officers arrived to find the vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters from the Grand Junction Fire Department extinguished the fire. One person was found deceased in the vehicle and two additional people were transported to the hospital with suspected serious bodily injuries. Alcohol is suspected as being a contributing factor in this crash.
The Mesa County Coroner’s Office will be responsible for releasing the identity of the decedent after appropriate notifications have been made. This incident is under investigation and there is no further information available at this time.
