Brush Fire, on Ridge Top Above I-70 (mile 51)

Emergency crews have requested air resources and are requesting an evacuation in a 2 mile radius around the fire. Fire crews have named this the Beaver Tail Fire. Black smoke is visible over the Bookcliffs from Grand Junction & Palisade area.

Update: 7:30pm:

Incident Commander has estimated the fire to be between 10-13 acres in size. Resources taking action include 4 Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATs), 1 Large Airtanker (LAT), 1 Type 1 Helicopter, 1 Type 2 Helicopter, 2 Type 2 Handcrews and multiple engines. Estimated containment/control times are unknown and there are no I-70 closures at this time.
