Disturbance / Wanted Person, Connected Lakes, Dike Rd

A parks ranger held a wanted suspect at gunpoint in a vehicle at the Connected Lakes parking lot on Dike Rd. The parks ranger was able to spot a firearm in the vehicle during the encounter. Mesa County Sheriff, Grand Junction Police, and Colorado State Patrol all responded to the scene to assist the officer. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

From the Grand Junction Police Department:

On August 12, 2024, at approximately 9:40 a.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 2700 block of Hwy 6 and 50. When officers contacted the driver, he fled from the scene and drove into oncoming traffic, eluding officers.

On August 13, 2024, at approximately 10:15 a.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to the area of Connected Lakes to assist a Colorado Parks and Wildlife officer that was in contact with a male subject in possession of a gun.  When officers arrived on scene, Grand Junction Police Officers identified the male as the suspect that eluded the previous day. The male, identified as Lakota Lamb, age 24, was taken into custody without incident. Lamb was remanded to the Mesa County Detention Facility for an active warrant, Vehicular Eluding, Obstructing a Peace Officer, Reckless Driving, and other related charges. This is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. This is an ongoing investigation and there is no further information at this time.
