Smoke in Building / Electrical Fire, Boston’s Pizza, 24 Rd & Patterson Rd

Staff reporting smoke in the building as well as noticeable electrical failure. Possible source is the neon sign. Staff and customers are evacuated. Fire crews later found that fire had spread to a roof top mechanical room, and into a nearby wall.

From the Grand Junction Fire Department:

At 7:32 p.m. on Sunday, August 25th, Grand Junction Fire Department was dispatched to Bostonโ€™s Restaurant for smoke and flames coming from the sign over the entry to the restaurant and and an activated fire alarm system. When crews arrived on scene they found that all customers and employees had safely evacuated the building, that the fire sprinkler system had activated, and that there was active fire above the entry to the building. Crews were able to confirm that the fire had not spread beyond the initial area and worked to contain it quickly.

The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation. No injuries have been reported.
