Truck vs bicycle rider at 30 Rd and Orchard Avenue just before 7:00pm Friday night. The white Chevy Silverado fled the scene an excess of over 80 mph, trying to elude witnesses attempting to follow them. Bicycle rider, a woman in her 30s, has trauma injuries to the head and compound fracture to a leg. A tourniquet was applied by police to the victims leg. Sheriff, police, and state patrol are searching the city looking for the truck.
Update 7:27pm: Sheriff has the suspect truck pulled over in Fruita at the Walgreens at Highway 30 and West Aspen Avenue. Two individuals in the suspect vehicle have been taken into police custody. The truck has clear evidence of damage and blood from the incident.
Update 7:41pm: South lanes on 30 Rd will be CLOSED for 4-5 hours for investigation.
