Female car jacking victim with a gunshot wound to the chest. The shooting victim was found at the Golden Gate gas station in Palisade where she crashed her black sedan into a rock embankment out front. The incident happened just west of The Liquor Cabinet on West 3rd St where shell casings were found.
Police located the suspect vehicle in the area of F 1/2 Road and I-70BL Maverik gas station and started a pursuit on 32 Road with speeds over 80 mph. Vehicle was heading to Delta at speeds over 120 mph. Suspect vehicle hit Delta Sheriff stop-sticks at mile marker 63 on Hwy 50 and lost one of its tires.
Suspect is detained by police and in custody.
Palisade Police and Mesa County Sheriff are now checking the around the Dollar General in Palisade for another suspect that may have jumped out of the vehicle prior to the high speed pursuit.
