Traffic Stop in Fruita Leads to 60 LBS Meth Bust

Two people were arrested following a traffic stop on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.  An Investigator with the Western Colorado Drug Task Force conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after it pulled into a gas station in Fruita following a traffic violation.

The subsequent investigation resulted in the seizure of approximately 60 pounds of methamphetamine.  Investigators discovered the illegal drugs were on their way to the Denver area for distribution.

Joe Guerrero III, 25 years old of Stockton, California, and 30-year-old Maria Magallon-Chavez of Lorain, California, were taken into custody and are being held in the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

  • SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES IMPORT >14G SCH I/II OR 7G METH, HEROIN, KATAMINE, CATHINONE OR > 10MG OF FLUNITRAZEPAM
