Grand Jury Indicts Man in Double Homicide Shooting

From the Grand Junction Police Department:

On 05/15/24, at approximately 3:20 p.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a report of a shooting which occurred at Advanced Auto Parts located at 2893 North Avenue. Two males, Robert McCall and David Doolin, were transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds and were pronounced deceased at the hospital. The suspect was identified and questioned by law enforcement, and detectives worked tirelessly to piece together the evidence presented in this incident. Due to the complexities and intricacies of this case, the Grand Junction Police Department worked in collaboration with the 21st Judicial District Attorneyโ€™s Office to help assure all aspects of the case were meticulously reviewed and assess that any charges were supported by the evidence.

On 07/25/24, District Attorney Dan Rubinstein, in coordination with the Grand Junction Police Department, presented the findings in this case to the 21st Judicial District Grand Jury, who agreed to investigate this incident. On 11/06/24, the 21st Judicial District Grand Jury indicted the suspect, identified as John Taylor (age 33), with two counts of Second-Degree Murder and formal charges were filed by the 21st Judicial District Attorneyโ€™s Office. On 11/18/24, Taylor turned himself into the Mesa County Detention Facility.
