From the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office:
On the evening of January 17, 2025, Deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Candlewood Trailer Park, located at 424 32 Road in Clifton, for a report of an assault.
The victim fled to a neighbor’s house for help after being brutally attacked with a hammer. An ambulance was dispatched immediately, and the victim was urgently transported to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Deputies attempted to contact the suspect, 24-year-old Drake Roberts, with no response. Deputies could see movement and hear what appeared to be Drake barricading himself inside.ย
SWAT operators were called to the scene after the suspect refused to exit the residence. For several hours, the suspect was given many opportunities to exit peacefully.
Drake Roberts was taken into custody at 9:18 pm, immediately following the introduction of gas into the residence. Roberts remained combative and uncooperative with law enforcement upon being taken into custody.
Drake Roberts is currently being held in the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:
- 2nd Degree Assault with a Deadly Weapon F4
- Menacing โ Real/Simulated Weapon F5
- False Imprisonment F5
- 1st Degree Kidnapping F1
- Sex Assault โ Penetration/Deadly Weapon F2
- 3rd Degree Assault M1
- Violation of a Protection Order M1
- Domestic Violence
- Warrant:ย Fugitive Other Jurisdiction out of Montrose County
