From the Clifton Fire Department:
On Tuesday, February 4th, at approximately 9:40 PM, the Clifton Fire Protection District (CFPD) responded to multiple reports of a structure fire at Candlewood Mobile Home Park. Due to reports of heavy fire and a possible victim trapped inside, CFPD requested additional assistance from the Grand Junction Fire Department (GJFD). Upon arrival, CFPD Engine 21 encountered heavy fire at one end of the mobile home and initiated search and fire suppression efforts. During the operation, firefighters located a victim inside the home. Unfortunately, the victim could not be resuscitated. A second occupant was able to exit the structure before fire crews arrived and was transported to the hospital for evaluation. The home sustained significant fire damage.
Units from GJFD, including Engine 8, Engine 2, and Engine 4, provided crucial support in controlling the fire. Palisade Fire was requested to respond with a water tender to assist with water supply. A joint investigation between CFPD and GJFD is currently underway to determine the cause of the fire.
The Clifton Fire Protection District extends its deepest condolences to those affected by this tragedy.
We would like to thank GJFD, Palisade Fire Department, and the Mesa County Sheriffโs Office for your support and dedicated service.
