From the Grand Junction Police Department:
Officers and detectives with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a report of an individual lying on the sidewalk near the 30 Road underpass, just off I-70B, at approximately 3:40 a.m. on March 9, 2025.
Through investigation, officers determined the male had been involved in an altercation earlier that morning at the Lux Ultra Lounge, located at 2993 North Avenue. After the altercation, the male fled the scene. He subsequently climbed a fence and fell onto the ground below. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Foul play is not suspected, and alcohol appears to be a contributing factor in this incident. The Mesa County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the decedent following appropriate notifications to next of kin.
The Grand Junction Police Department is continuing its investigation and believes this is an isolated incident. No further information is available at this time.
Update: The Mesa County Coroner’s Office’s has identified the victim as Luis Angel Martinez age 33 of Clifton.
