Juvenile Arrested After Knife Incident at High School

On April 17, 2025, at approximately 8:10 a.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a report of a weapon at Grand Junction High School, located at 1400 N 5th Street. A student was reported to be in possession of a knife and threatening to kill someone.

Officers, along with District 51 School Security officers already on site, responded immediately and quickly located and detained the student. The knife, located in the studentโ€™s back pocket, was secured, and the student was identified and questioned.

The juvenile (age 15) was transported to the Division of Youth Services on the following charges:

  • Felony Menacing (three counts)
  • Unlawfully Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  • Weapon Possession on School Grounds

No injuries were reported during the incident. In accordance with the Colorado Open Records Act, the identity of the juvenile will not be released.

This is believed to be an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the school or the community.

Every report of a potential threat is taken seriously and acted upon swiftly to protect our community.
