From the Grand Junction Police Department:
On April 24, 2025, at approximately 10:30 a.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle linked to a suspicious incident reported earlier that morning. The driver refused to comply, and officers followed the vehicle to the 500 block of Reed Mesa Drive.
Upon stopping, the suspect fled on foot and entered a nearby residence, where he refused to speak with law enforcement. Due to information indicating the suspect may be armed, SWAT operators from the Grand Junction Police Department and Mesa County Sheriffโs Office responded to the scene.
The suspect was identified as Kevin Anderson (age 38), who had an active warrant for his arrest. After several hours of attempting to gain compliance, Anderson was taken into taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the outstanding warrant, along with additional charges related to this incident.
During the course of this incident, officers contacted a second individual, Gabriel Martinez (age 38), who was arrested on three outstanding warrants.
A shelter-in-place notification was issued to residents in the immediate area out of an abundance of caution. The Grand Junction Police Department believes this is an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public.
This remains an active investigation and there is no further information available at this time.
