Police are investigating a fight involving juveniles that occurred at Orchard Mesa Middle School. A video circulating online showed an assault incident that occurred on Monday, May 12th involving two students. Police have issued the following statement:

The Grand Junction Police Department is actively investigating a reported assault that occurred at Orchard Mesa Middle School.
On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, officers received a report regarding an incident that took place on Monday, May 12, 2025, involving a physical altercation between two students. One of the juveniles sustained minor injuries.
The Grand Junction Police Department is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Mesa County Valley School District 51 is conducting a separate investigation in accordance with district and board policy. At this time, no additional information is available.
Because the individuals involved are juveniles, their identities will not be released in accordance with the Colorado Open Records Act.
