Four Suspects Jailed in Assault and Kidnapping Case

The Grand Junction Police Department has been actively investigating an assault and kidnapping incident that occurred on the 400 block of Larrys Meadow Drive on May 19, 2025. The investigation began after an adult female fled to a neighbor’s home and reported that someone was after her.

As a result of the investigation, Jonah Larson (age 29) and Brianna Ferns (age 29) were arrested. Warrants were also issued for two additional suspects believed to be involved: Mario Mendoza (age 29) and Dakota Gray (age 26).

On May 22, 2025, at approximately 1:45 p.m., the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office located and arrested Mendoza and Gray.

Mario Mendoza and Dakota Gray were transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility, where they were booked on the following charges:

  • Second-Degree Kidnapping
  • Robbery
  • False Imprisonment
  • Attempted First-Degree Assault
  • Menacing
  • Reckless Endangerment
  • Criminal Invasion of Privacy
  • Criminal Mischief
  • Third-Degree Assault
