Smoke seen in the basement area of the Methodist Church on White Avenue and North 5th Street. Building is evacuated safely. Fire crews are on scene investigating. No smoke or flames seen. Fire crews in the basement are unable to locate any heat source, or any problem. Responders are now checking the roof for possible swamp cooler issues.
Update: a faulty sump pump was found to be the source of the smoke.
