
Attic fire at a house on Hopi Street north on Unaweep Avenue in Orchard Mesa. Fire crews are on scene investigating.

Grand Junction, Colo. — At 1:19 a.m., the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a report of a fire in the crawl space of a home on the 300 block of Hopi Drive. The occupant reported smelling smoke and discovered the fire in a crawl space accessed from the exterior of the residence. They safely evacuated and called 9-1-1.
Upon arrival, firefighters removed sections of the exterior wall to access and extinguish the fire. Crews worked thoroughly to confirm there was no fire extension into other parts of the home.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the resident was not displaced. The origin and cause of the fire are currently under investigation.
The Grand Junction Police Department assisted with scene safety, and a GJPD Victim Advocate responded to offer support to the homeowner.
