
Emergency responders are dispatched to area of Mesa Lakes near Highway 65 for a drowning. The victim is likely a 19-year-old male that was found not conscious and not breathing in a stream. CareFlight has been dispatched.
The Mesa County Coroner was also dispatched to the scene.

MESA, CO – On June 12, 2025, at 5 p.m. the Grand Junction Regional Communication Center received a text-to-911 for a male experiencing a medical emergency near the area of Sunset Lakes in Mesa, Colorado. Deputies with the Mesa County Sheriffโs Office, Plateau Valley Fire Department, and CareFlight were dispatched to the call.
Plateau Valley Fire Department arrived first on scene where a family member was performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on an unconscious 19-year-old male. Deputies with the Mesa County Sheriffโs Office arrived a short time later to aid in overall response. During their investigation, Deputies learned that the family member located the male after he failed to return to their vehicle. The male was found unresponsive in less than a foot of water.
Despite CPR by the family member and advanced lifesaving efforts by paramedics, the male was pronounced deceased on scene. At this time, the death is not considered to be suspicious in nature.
The Mesa County Coronerโs Office is responsible for determining the cause and manner of death and identity of the victim.
