Mesa County, CO – Wildfire smoke from nearby fires has led to deteriorating air quality in Mesa County, prompting Mesa County Public Health to advise caution when spending time outdoors. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has issued an Air Quality Alert for parts of the Western Slope.

Residents are encouraged to stay indoors, particularly those with heart or respiratory conditions, young children, and the elderly. Other recommendations include limiting outdoor activities during moderate to heavy smoke, reducing the use of evaporative coolers, and utilizing air filters to minimize indoor particulate matter.

Additionally, a No Burn Advisory is currently in effect for Mesa County, prohibiting all forms of burning, including agricultural burning. Updates on air quality conditions and the status of the advisory will be provided through the Mesa County Public Health website and social media channels.
