GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – On December 26, 2024, a tragic accident occurred near the intersection of I-70B and 28 Road, resulting in the death of a driver. According to the Grand Junction Police Department, the incident involved a westbound vehicle colliding with a truck turning eastbound onto I-70B from a frontage road.
Following a thorough investigation, 78-year-old Jake Gallegos, the driver of the truck, was arrested on July 22, 2025, and charged with Careless Driving Resulting in Death. He was released on a summons. No additional details have been released at this time.
