GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — August 8, 2025. A wanted suspect was taken into custody Friday afternoon after barricading himself in a camper, prompting a temporary shelter-in-place, authorities said.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to apprehend a wanted subject around 3:10 p.m. in the 2900 block of Parkway Drive. The suspect fled, and Grand Junction Police officers were called to assist.

The man was later located in the backyard of a residence in the 2200 block of Orchard Avenue, where he barricaded himself inside a camper. SWAT teams from both the Grand Junction Police Department and the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded.

The suspect, identified as Jarrod Bidlack, 28, ultimately surrendered to SWAT and was taken into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported.

Out of an abundance of caution, a shelter-in-place was issued for the surrounding area and has since been lifted. Deputies transported Bidlack to a hospital for evaluation before booking him into the Mesa County Detention Facility on his active warrants. Additional charges are pending.

Officials said the incident is believed to be isolated and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
