Barricaded Individual Takes Own Life in Standoff on 28 Road

GRAND JUNCTION, CO – On September 12, 2025, at around 8:15 a.m., the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a welfare check at a residence in the 500 block of 28 Road. Officers were informed of an individual armed with knives and a sword.

After several hours of communication with crisis negotiators, the Grand Junction Police Department SWAT team, assisted by the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team, entered the residence to apprehend the individual on a warrant. Upon entry, the individual was discovered deceased from an apparent self-inflicted injury.

The Mesa County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after notifications are made. Authorities have confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the community, and the investigation remains active with no further details available at this time.
