Two in Custody Following Clifton Vehicle Theft and Pursuit

CLIFTON, CO – Two Grand Junction residents are in custody after a vehicle was stolen from a Clifton parking lot Saturday morning, leading to a brief pursuit. The entire incident, from the initial report to the arrests, concluded in under 30 minutes.

On Saturday, September 13, 2025, at approximately 11:40 a.m., Mesa County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 500 block of 32 Road for a report of a stolen vehicle. The owner provided dispatch with the license plate number and unique vehicle descriptors.

Deputies quickly located the stolen vehicle as it was being driven into the 29 Road desert area. A pursuit was initiated and deputies successfully stopped the vehicle using a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver.

The two occupants, identified as Jake Rodriguez, 34, and Cassandra Allen, 37, both of Grand Junction, were taken into custody without further incident. They were transported and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on multiple charges.


Jake Rodriguez (34) has been charged with the following:

  • Aggravated Driving with a Revoked License/Habitual Offender
  • Vehicular Eluding (Felony 5)
  • Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle – 2nd Offense (Felony 5)
  • Fugitive Other Jurisdiction Warrant
  • Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance (Drug Misdemeanor 1)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Drug Petty Offense)
  • Reckless Driving (Traffic Offense)
  • Criminal Mischief $5,000 – $20,000 (Felony 5)
  • 1st Degree Criminal Trespass of an Automobile with Intent to Commit a Crime (Misdemeanor 1)

Cassandra Allen (37) has been charged with the following:

  • 3rd Degree Motor Vehicle Theft (Felony 5)
  • Complicity (Felony 5)
