GRAND JUNCTION, CO – The Grand Junction Police Department has arrested 45-year-old Shane Chatfield on charges related to the sexual exploitation of a child. The investigation began on September 11, 2025, after dispatchers received a report of a potential meet-up between an adult male and a juvenile.
Officers discovered that Chatfield allegedly sent illicit text messages to an adult posing as a juvenile and attempted to arrange a meeting. An arrest warrant was issued for charges of attempted sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a child.
Information gathered online shows that Chatfield works at Caprock Academy in the IT department.
Chatfield was arrested without incident on September 16, 2025, and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility. The investigation remains ongoing.
