Injured Mountain Biker Airlifted from Ribbon Trail

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — September 18, 2025 — An adult mountain biker was airlifted to a local hospital Thursday afternoon after a coordinated search and rescue on the Ribbon Trail off Little Park Road, southwest of Grand Junction, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies, Mesa County Search and Rescue (SAR) volunteers, and the Grand Junction Fire Department (GJFD) responded around 3:30 p.m. SAR ground teams and a GJFD drone located the rider and helped establish a safe landing zone for CareFlight, which transported the patient.

Officials said fellow riders called 911 promptly, allowing the rescue to be completed during daylight and aiding a safe, efficient evacuation. The Sheriff’s Office thanked SAR, GJFD, and CareFlight for their partnership in successful local rescues.

No additional details about the rider’s condition were released.
