Police are out at the car wash on North Avenue near 29 Road on an assault / disturbance. A male suspect assaulted an elderly male and fled the scene in a vehicle. The victim was on the phone reporting the suspect to police when he was assaulted. Police caught up to the suspect’s vehicle at 28 1/2 Rd and North Avenue. The suspect fled a traffic stop on foot near the AutoZone on North Avenue. Officers caught the suspect, holding him at gunpoint until taken safely into custody in the area behind Scallywags Bar. An ambulance was dispatched for the male victim at the car wash.
Update: The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Billy Knoeppchen, was arrested on an unrelated warrant, with additional charges pending related to this incident.
