Vehicle Crashes Off Colorado Monument, Driver Rescued

Between 4:51 AM and 4:58 AM on 9/26/2025 units were dispatched to Rimrock Drive between mile markers 16 and 17 for a vehicle that went off a cliff. A 21-year-old male was located approximately 30 to 40 feet down an embankment, outside the vehicle, conscious and breathing but not accessible; rescuers requested a rope rescue. Male was reporting a possibly head injury and in shock.

At approximately 4:13 a.m., Grand Junction Fire Department responded to reports of a vehicle that had driven off the edge of the Colorado National Monument. The vehicle was located about 100 feet down a ravine and was inaccessible by foot. Working alongside Colorado National Monument Rangers and Mesa County Search and Rescue, GJFD crews conducted a high-angle rope rescue to reach the vehicle and extract the patient, who was then transported by CareFlight.
