Apartment complex fire on 32 1/8 Road at Mesa Avenue E 1/2 Road in Clifton. Deputies were working on evacuations and fire crews arriving on scene are working to extinguish. Additional resources have been requested from Grand Junction to assist.
Complex is located on the west side of 32 1/8 Road at E 1/2 Road.
Primary assessment shows the apartment is clear. One cat was rushed to an emergency vet by a deputy, and one dog perished in the incident. Adjacent apartments were not occupied at the time, and sustained smoke damage. The primary apartment sustained heavy fire damage.
A mother and young child were displaced by the fire. The Red Cross has been called to assist.
