GRAND JUNCTION, CO – The City of Grand Junction has scheduled its annual leaf removal program from October 20 to December 11, 2025, starting one week later than previous years based on resident feedback. This free service, available only to single-family residences within city limits, aims to prevent leaf build-up on streets, which can clog stormwater drains, cause flooding, and impact water quality.
The city is divided into five areas, each with specific rake-out dates. Residents must place leaves at the curb by 7 a.m. on their designated date, 18 inches from the curb, with pick-up occurring within three days, weather permitting. Only leaves and pine needles are accepted. Over 10,000 cubic yards of leaves are collected annually and composted at the Mesa County Organic Materials Composting facility for use in gardens and farmland.
Residents can access the 2025 Rake-Out Schedule and Leaf Pick-Up Areas map online and will receive postcards with their area’s dates. No collections will occur on Veteran’s Day (November 11) or Thanksgiving (November 27-28). For inquiries, contact 970-256-4111.
