Emergency crews are responding to a single-vehicle rollover crash on I-70 near Mile 41 by the Palisade West (Exit 42) area. Initial dispatch reported a white truck that went off the road into the median and rolled, with the driver unconscious and the vehicle smoking. Law enforcement now reports the driver is pinned in the backseat of the truck, which is on its roof. Rescue crews are deploying extrication tools to force open the rear doors and reach the trapped driver. Traffic in the area may be slowed as emergency vehicles operate on and along the interstate.
Update: Witnesses suggest this is possibly a fatal accident.
Update 7:00 p.m.: Colorado State Patrol has confirmed this is now a fatal vehicle accident.
