Coroner Identifies Man Found in Colorado River

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — The Mesa County Coroner’s Office has identified the man found dead in the Colorado River over the weekend as Stephen Fox, 71, of Grand Junction.

According to a media release from Coroner Dean Havlik, Fox was discovered on Saturday, Nov. 22, submerged in the river just south of the Botanical Gardens in Grand Junction.

An autopsy has been completed, and Fox’s death appears to be due to drowning, the coroner’s office said.

The circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation. No additional information was released.
