Fruita Police Seek Help Identifying Suspect in Thefts

FRUITA, Colo. — Fruita Police Department is warning residents about an increase in thefts from vehicles after sharing a video of an unknown male seen checking car door handles in a local neighborhood.

In the social media post, the department said the suspect was captured on video as part of what appears to be a recent uptick in vehicle-related thefts. Police are asking anyone who recognizes the individual to contact non-emergency dispatch at (970) 242-6707 or Crime Stoppers of Mesa County at (970) 241-7867.

The department also encouraged residents to take simple precautions, especially during the holiday season, including:

  • Locking car doors every time
  • Removing valuables or keeping them out of sight
  • Watching out for neighbors and reporting suspicious activity
