Police responded to reports of a naked male in a red robe chasing vehicles with a large steel rod near the Mesa County Library at 443 North 6th Street. Officers staged and made contact on the west side of the library in front of the entry doors; radio traffic described the subject as compliant and later indicated he was detained. Dispatch advised EMS unit to stage nearby on a routine response and treated the call as a mental‑health related issue.
The subject told officers the robe came from First United Methodist Church. Officers are checking to building for possible burglary and trespassing.
