Mesa County, Colorado, has marked the completion of the US 6 Clifton Improvements Project with a celebration involving community members, state partners, and the construction team. The project, aimed at enhancing safety, access, and traffic flow in Clifton, features modern roundabouts at the corridor’s ends between First and Fifth streets, upgraded pedestrian connections, and designs to slow traffic and minimize crash risks.
Commissioner JJ Fletcher highlighted the collaborative effort, stating, ‘This project represents more than just pavement and roundabouts. It reflects years of working hand in hand to identify needs, plan improvements and invest in infrastructure that makes our community safer and more accessible.’ Additional work on 32 1/2 Road ensured minimal disruptions during construction and improved local connectivity.
The upgrades are expected to benefit local businesses, neighborhoods, and serve as a safer gateway to Clifton for decades, transforming a once-congested area into a more efficient and welcoming corridor.
