Suspect Jailed After Assaulting Two Officers at Walmart

A 38-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after reportedly assaulting two Grand Junction Police officers during a disturbance at the Walmart on North Avenue.

Police say officers were dispatched to the store at 2881 North Avenue on December 17, 2025, after receiving reports of a male harassing employees and customers in the parking lot. When officers contacted the individual, identified as Bobby McCarley, he allegedly assaulted both of them.

McCarley was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for evaluation before being booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility. He was arrested on an outstanding warrant and the following additional charges:

  • Second Degree Assault on a Peace Officer (2 counts)
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Obstructing a Peace Officer
  • Second Degree Burglary of a Retailer
  • Theft
  • Menacing

Both officers suffered serious bodily injuries during the assault. The department confirmed they have since been treated and released from the hospital.
