Around 9:00 a.m. Monday, fire crews discovered two RVs on fire after callers reported a large column of black smoke north of the go-kart track in the desert, north of I-70. A sheriff deputy on scene reported no bystanders in the area. Radio traffic did not indicate any injuries and that both RVs appeared unoccupied.
The fire location was described as extremely rough terrain, requiring the dispatch of brush units. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire after arriving on scene.
