Industrial Fuel Fire, 21 Rd & Desert Fruita

A structure fire was reported at an industrial fuel complex at 1629 21 Road where Lower Valley Fire responded. Radio traffic indicates a hot oil pump caught fire behind the control room on the west side of the property, with active flames close to equipment and multiple thousand-gallon oil tanks. Everyone on site was reported evacuated.

A water-tender drop and shuttle operation was being set up, and mutual aid from Grand Junction (Engine 3) was requested to respond with lights and sirens. No injuries were reported in the radio traffic.

Responders are focused on cooling tanks and protecting nearby exposed structures.

Xcel has shut off a natural gas line near the fire.

Update 11:20 p.m.: The fire is reported out. Crews are working to stop fuel / liquid from spilling out of the pipes to prevent a secondary ignition.

Update 11:31 p.m.: Crews have stopped the product leaking from pipes and seem to have full containment.
