
Domestic disturbance reported at a residence on Powis Lane in Fruita. Caller reports her ex-husband possibly drove his truck into her garage door and entered the house. Fruita Police on scene are reporting a vehicle appears to have struck the garage door of the home. Officers are attempting to locate the male. Sheriff and State Patrol are also assisting with additional deputies dispatched. The male has barricaded himself inside the residence. An ambulance has been placed on standby as the situation escalates.

Update: Male Found Deceased Following Standoff on Powis Lane
Official information has been released regarding the incident on the 1600 block of Powis Lane. At 10:09 a.m. on Sunday, Fruita Police and Mesa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the report of a vehicle crashing into the front of a home.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, two occupants were able to safely leave the home following the crash. The male, who was known to have access to firearms, then barricaded himself inside the residence.
The situation prompted a response from the combined Mesa County and Grand Junction Police SWAT Team. With the homeowner’s consent, SWAT deployed a drone inside the residence and located the male, who was found deceased.
Authorities have confirmed this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
