Vehicle vs GVT bus, as well as other vehicles along N 4th and N 3rd Street downtown. Witnesses described a black Ford Ranger was involved in multiple hit-and-run collisions. The vehicle was disabled after striking a bus at Ute Avenue and South 4th Street.

Officers reported a driver outside the truck who was believed to be intoxicated and attempting to walk away. Fourth Street was blocked at Ute Avenue during the response. No other Possibly minor injuries were reported on the radio traffic. Officers believe over 5 vehicles were hit.

The black truck rolled over onto is side after hitting the bus, spilling beer cans and alcohol onto the roadway.

Grand Junction, CO – On February 19, 2026, at approximately 8:15 p.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a vehicle versus GVT bus crash at the intersection of S 4th Street and Pitkin Avenue.

911 dispatchers with the Grand Junction Regional Communication Center received multiple reports of a black Ford Ranger striking several parked vehicles in the 200 block of N 3rd Street near Gunnison Avenue. Minutes later, the same vehicle collided with a GVT bus that was stopped at the intersection of S 4th Street and Pitkin Avenue.

There were no reported injuries to the driver of the GVT bus, and there were no passengers on board at the time of the crash. The driver of the Ford Ranger, a 17-year-old juvenile, was contacted at the scene and transported to a local hospital for evaluation of minor injuries. The juvenile is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and faces multiple charges.

In accordance with the Colorado Open Records Act, the identity of the juvenile will not be released.

Southbound lanes of S 4th Street between Ute Avenue and Pitkin Avenue were temporarily closed while first responders cleared the scene.
