Four Arrested in Child Exploitation Sting

GRAND JUNCTION, CO — Four individuals were arrested following a multi-day operation targeting internet crimes against children in Mesa County.

Between February 27 and March 2, 2026, investigators with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office partnered with the Homeland Security Investigations Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Taskforce. The joint operation aimed to identify and arrest individuals attempting to solicit sex from minors in the area.

The four-day sting resulted in four arrests. All suspects were booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on various felony charges:

  • Max Jones, 45, of Grand Junction: Internet Luring of a Child, Criminal Attempt, and Sex Assault on a Child.
  • Jose Suarez-Tavera, 42, of Grand Junction: Criminal Attempt and Sex Assault on a Child.
  • Angella Garcia, 28, of Grand Junction: Internet Luring of a Child, Enticement of a Child, Internet Sexual Exploitation of a Child, Criminal Attempt, and Sexual Assault on a Child.
  • James Kellerby, 66, of Clifton: Internet Luring of a Child, Enticement of a Child, Criminal Attempt, Internet Sexual Exploitation of a Child, and Sexual Assault on a Child.

Authorities noted that Kellerby’s booking photo will be released once it becomes available.
