An assault was reported around 12:50 p.m. near Maverick at 2696 Highway 50 in Orchard Mesa. Colorado State Patrol troopers and multiple local patrol units responded after radio traffic indicated a male was harassing people and then fought with a trooper.
Scanner traffic said the trooper had the male on the ground but the subject continued to struggle and reportedly headbutted the trooper; a taser was deployed. Additional troopers and patrol units were en route, and units requested a lights-and-sirens response.
Law enforcement took the male suspect into custody. An ambulance was dispatched to evaluate the suspect for injuries related to the taser deployment and some various bleeding. Animal control was dispatched to take custody of the suspects dog.
