Police Recover Stolen Firearm, Arrest Suspect

GRAND JUNCTION, CO — A 35-year-old woman was arrested Thursday morning in connection with a vehicle break-in and firearm theft at a local Walmart.

On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at approximately 6:40 p.m., Grand Junction Police officers responded to a reported theft in the parking lot of the Walmart located at 2881 North Avenue. Officers determined that multiple items had been stolen from a parked vehicle.

During the investigation, officers collected evidence that identified Alicia Colavito, 35, as the primary suspect in the theft.

The following morning, around 11:00 a.m. on March 12, officers located Colavito in the 700 block of Horizon Drive and safely took her into custody. She was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility and booked on an outstanding felony warrant, as well as the following new charges:

  • First Degree Criminal Trespass
  • Theft of a Firearm
  • Theft $2,000–$5,000
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Authorities confirmed that officers successfully recovered the stolen firearm and other missing items. Following the incident, the Grand Junction Police Department reminded residents to always keep their vehicles locked and firearms safely secured to help prevent similar thefts.
