
GRAND JUNCTION, CO — A 19-year-old Colorado Mesa University (CMU) student was arrested Friday afternoon after allegedly pointing a firearm at another student inside a campus dorm.
At approximately 12:40 p.m. on March 13, 2026, Grand Junction Police officers responded to a report of a possible weapon on campus in the 1100 block of Elm Walk.
During the investigation, officers determined that a student, who was suspected to be intoxicated, possessed a firearm in a shared dorm bathroom and allegedly pointed the weapon at another student.

The suspect, identified as Charles Labbo, 19, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility. He was booked on the following charges:
- Menacing – Real/Simulated Weapon
- Weapon Possession at School/Childcare – Firearm
- Prohibited Use of a Weapon
- Possession of a Dangerous or Illegal Weapon
- Illegal Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia Under 21 Years of Age
Authorities confirmed that this was an isolated incident. No injuries were reported, and police stated there is no ongoing danger to the community.
The Grand Junction Police Department commended CMU staff for their swift reporting, which helped ensure the safety of all students. The case remains under active investigation.
