
GRAND JUNCTION, CO — A 36-year-old man was arrested Thursday night after allegedly hitting a light pole, striking multiple parked cars, and eventually crashing his truck into an Orchard Mesa business.
At approximately 8:50 p.m. on April 2, 2026, first responders with the Grand Junction Police and Fire Departments responded to a vehicle-versus-building crash in the 2600 block of Highway 50.
Through their investigation, officers determined that a truck first struck a light pole at a nearby Maverick gas station. The vehicle then collided with several vehicles in the parking lot of Cruisers Bar before continuing on and crashing into the Smoker Friendly located at 2692 Highway 50.
While the collision caused extensive structural damage to the business, authorities reported that no one inside the store was injured.
The driver of the truck, identified as Eugene Graham, 36, was transported to a local hospital by the Grand Junction Fire Department for an evaluation of his injuries. Once medically cleared, Graham was arrested and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility.
He was booked on the following charges:
- DUI
- Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Reckless Driving
- Hit and Run (Failure to Remain at Scene of Accident with Vehicle Damage)
The Grand Junction Police Department stated that the incident remains under active investigation. Following the crash, authorities issued a public safety reminder, encouraging anyone who suspects an impaired driver on the road to contact law enforcement immediately.
