
Emergency crews responded to a vehicle-versus-motorcycle crash around 10:10 a.m. at the Phillips 66 at 723 Horizon Drive. BLM firefighters and a BLM officer were in the area and on scene, requesting an ambulance with emergent response.
Radio traffic indicated a male patient in his 40s was initially reported with agonal breathing and CPR in progress. Dispatch later advised the patient was possibly regaining consciousness and appearing to stabilize as crews continued treatment on scene.
Traffic will be congested in the area while police investigate the crash due to the serious injuries. Vehicles involved are a white Ford F-150 and a black travel style motorcycle with black saddlebags.
Update: Rider was transported to the hospital in serious condition.

GRAND JUNCTION, CO — A motorcyclist has died following a severe collision with a pickup truck on Wednesday morning, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.
On April 8, 2026, at approximately 10:10 a.m., law enforcement and first responders were dispatched to the 700 block of Horizon Drive following a report of a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle.
Through their initial investigation, officers determined that the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Horizon Drive. At the same time, a northbound pickup truck attempted to turn westbound into a nearby parking lot, moving into the path of the motorcycle and resulting in the collision.
The Grand Junction Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the motorcyclist to a local hospital with serious bodily injuries. Despite life-saving efforts by medical personnel, authorities confirmed that the rider later died at the hospital.
The Mesa County Coroner’s Office has taken over that portion of the investigation and will be responsible for releasing the official identity of the deceased once the next of kin has been notified.
The Grand Junction Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
