GRAND JUNCTION, CO — A 31-year-old former parole officer turned herself in to authorities Thursday after new evidence reopened a previously unsubstantiated investigation into an alleged sexual relationship with a parolee.
On December 31, 2025, Grand Junction Police Department (GJPD) detectives were initially alerted to a possible sex offense involving an 18-year-old male and Nycole Power, 31, a parole officer with Grand Mesa Youth Services (GMYS). At that time, separate investigations by both the GJPD and GMYS were unable to substantiate the allegations based on available interviews and evidence.
However, on March 9, 2026, Grand Junction police were dispatched to a report of possible abuse. The reporting party provided information consistent with the December 2025 allegations regarding a relationship between Power and the parolee. Based on new evidence presented during this call, detectives reopened the case.
Investigators ultimately established probable cause and secured an arrest warrant for Power. On April 23, 2026, Power surrendered herself at the Mesa County Detention Facility.

Power was booked on the following charges:
- Unlawful Sexual Conduct by a Peace Officer
- Criminal Extortion
- Tampering with Physical Evidence
- First Degree Official Misconduct
- Harassment
The Grand Junction Police Department stated that the investigation remains active and ongoing. Because the male parolee may have been a juvenile when the original incident occurred, his identity is being withheld in accordance with Colorado Open Records laws.
Authorities are urging residents to always report suspected criminal behavior to law enforcement, noting that additional information from the public can be critical in determining the full scope of a case.
