False Alarm Fire, Community Corrections

Fire crews responded shortly after 8:18 p.m. to reports of smoke and an odor at the Community Corrections facility. Battalion 1, additional fire units and law enforcement were dispatched and the building was evacuated while crews investigated.

Responders conducted roof and interior checks and found no active flames or heat. Crews located a small smoldering pile of debris in a second-floor shower drain — believed to be burning cigarettes — that was contained in the drain. Command terminated the incident and units were cleared. No injuries were reported.
