PALISADE, CO — Two men were hospitalized—one in critical condition—after a single-vehicle rollover crash on eastbound Interstate 70 near Palisade Monday morning.

On June 1, at approximately 9:46 a.m., the Colorado State Patrol responded to a crash involving a Nissan Pathfinder near milepost 45.

Preliminary investigations indicate the Nissan was traveling in the right lane when it drifted off the right side of the roadway. The driver reportedly overcorrected, causing the vehicle to rotate into the center median, strike the guardrail, and roll onto its side. Authorities stated the driver was ejected during the crash.

Both occupants were transported to a local hospital. The driver, a 34-year-old male, is listed in critical condition. The passenger, a 47-year-old male from Florida, sustained serious bodily injuries.

The Colorado State Patrol is leading the ongoing investigation, and an official cause for the crash has not yet been determined. Eastbound I-70 was closed for approximately four hours for the investigation and cleanup, reopening at 1:44 p.m.
